On behalf of the Publications Committee of EBSA, I am pleased to announce that Professor Anthony Watts has accepted our invitation to succeed Dr Peter Bayley as Managing Editor of the European Biophysics Journal as from this issue of the Journal, Volume 29 number 1, 2000. Dr Bayley has been Managing Editor of the Journal since 1984, and he will continue to serve as an Editor to ensure a period of continuity. The new EBJ Editorial Office details are as follows :

As from 1ST January 2000, the European Biophysics Journal came under the full ownership of EBSA, the European Biophysical Societies’ Association. EBSA now comprises some 20 National Biophysical Societies in the European area. The Journal will continue to be published by Springer Verlag, Heidelberg. Proceeds from the European Biophysics Journal provide financial support for a number of activities of EBSA, a registered UK Charity, with the purpose of promoting the science of biophysics, defined as the study of biological phenomena and materials using physical methods and concepts.
